Yo, Ho, Ho! The Pirate Festival Lands at Kearney Park This Weekend (Fresno, California)Avast, me hearty! It’s time to brush off those gold doubloons and slap on your eye patch, because Pirate Season has landed in FresYes.How do I know it’s Pirate Season? The signs all align: Disney’s millionth (okay 5th) installment of Pirates of the Caribbean will be in theaters on May 26, Johnny Depp ran wild through Disneyland a few weeks ago, and the Fresno Pirate Festival is this weekend.Of course, Fresno doesn’t have white sands or an abundance of salt water, but don’t let this keep you from a jolly (roger) good time. You just need cannons, costumes, and of course, ale, to make a memorable pirate weekend.Luckily, the Pirate Festival covers this plunderful trifecta. So grab your parrot and your best pirate accent, because this is your chance to walk around growling and mumbling without any judgement. In fact, this is probably the only socially acceptable place (besides a boat) to yell, “Swab the poop deck!” — which is really reason enough to attend, right? If you’re wondering what pirates do all day, the entertainment schedule is chockfull. Apparently, pirates enjoy dancing, music, loud noises, and facial hair. There will be a beard and mustache contest, and belly dancers from Banat Tanjora Ghawazee Bellydance, plus cannon demonstrations and shopping opportunities. Finally, there will also be music from Barley Blane throughout the day to get you in the swashbuckling mood.Event DetailsDates: This family-friendly event takes place Saturday and Sunday, May 20-21.Hours:

Fort Knox Pirate Parlay - 3 Day Festival

Fort Knox Pirate Parlay - 3 Day Festival

Jul 14, 10:00am - Jul 16, 5:00pm

Fort Knox, 740 Fort Knox Road, Prospect, Maine

We ask Ye to join the professional Pirates of the Dark Rose and fearsome Pirates from across the USA for three days of swashbuckling sword fights, duels, cannon fire and Pirate attacks. On July 14, 15, and 16, the pirate ship "Must Roos" will let loose cannon fire on the Fort as she sails the waters of the Penobscot River, in search of booty. The festival will feature a pirate puppet show, pirate parade (all are encouraged to attend dressed in your best pirate attire), best dressed and most authentic sounding pirate contests. This year features the new Dead Pirate's Curse on Saturday night. Something for all ages to enjoy!

Regular Fort admission and a $3 per person event donation requested, because pirates love their gold! Those planning to spend the day may want to bring a lunch. The charge for the pirate ship sail is $25 per person for an hour cruise and cannon firing. The ship leaves from the Bucksport Town dock and tickets may be purchased in advance by calling (207)-469-6553. Advanced purchase is recommended as the ship can only carry six passengers. Note: Cruise tickets are non-refundable. People are encouraged to carpool to the Pirate Day events at the Fort due to limited parking.
