Come and enjoy a unique weekend in “The Best Little Pirate Town in Florida.” September 15 - 17th 2017. The Cedar Key Pirates in Paradise and pirate-friendly folks of Cedar Key on Florida’s nature coast are inviting pirates and pirate crews from all over to discover our beautiful, historic town and the pristine waters that surround us.

We’ll begin Friday evening with an officer’s call and a Meet and Greet. You will be introduced to Cedar Key Clams and other indigenous treats compliments of our local clam farmers. Cedar Key is the largest producer of aqua culturally raised clams in the U.S...There will be a cash bar for beer, wine, and soft drinks. You will receive a visitor’s packet and there will be people there to answer your questions and provide you with directions.

Saturday morning you may wish to participate in a grand promenade of pirates and crews through the quaint streets of Cedar Key. There will also be a host of children’s events to create memories and enhance the knowledge for our young pirate in training. We are planning a few surprises too.

We encourage our pirate friends to slow down and enjoy the scenic and natural beauty that is here in Cedar Key. Take a pirate-friendly boat tour of the numerous uninhabited islands visible within just a few miles of Cedar Key. Take a guided historic walking tour street of Cedar Key compliments of the Cedar Key Museum and Historical Society. Sit, relax, and listen to music performed at various venues around our compact village. Meet and enjoy the company of pirates and crews from all over.

Later in the evening, weather permitting, you treated to one of the most beautiful sunsets you can imagine. You can stroll over to Dock Street and enjoy special musical performers brought in especially with pirates in mind. During the evening we’ll have some special events and good pirate fun for your participation and enjoyment.

On Sunday morning we’ll meet one more time to say our farewells. There will be a lot of handshakes and hugs.

Drum Roll...

We won't keep you waiting any longer! The dates for the 2018 Cedar Key Pirate Invasion will be Nov. 30 - Dec. 2! Thank you all who participated in our poll and to all the great feedback we got on alternate dates. Weighing all factors (and the anchor), we decided the first weekend of December would be the best choice for our local businesses, lodging providers, vendors, and of course our attendees. The poll ended up at 59% favoring the December dates and 41% favoring the September dates.

However, we think a significant number of the September votes were really "not December" votes but there were only the two choices. You made your intentions known in the comments though! And we thought long and hard about other dates in November. But it seems that, once you eliminate Thanksgiving weekend, the remaining weekends were already hosting several pirate and/or renaissance festivals that would splinter the festival market and make difficult choices for everyone.

So, weekend after Thanksgiving it is... Huzzah! Stay tuned on Facebook and watch our website (www.cedarkeypiratefest.com) for details on this year's line up of events and entertainment at the "Best Little Pirate Town in Florida".

The later dates were so much better for those of us that camp and do the battle. It is so hot in September.

How about a date somewhere in between the 2?

Back to September. Not many families seen at December date

We can make it November-December

Second the comment on out of state travelers. If you want to draw from larger areas Holiday season will limit who is willing to travel. We would attend in Sept but never in Nov-Dec timeframe. MAybe Late January or Feb when ppl need sunshine??

There were fewer patrons attending the December one this year. I think it’s a lot of holiday activities people are busy with.

Weather wise, the 11/30-12/2 time frame is better.

The idea of after the hurricane season is good. But some ppl who have to work during retail season, arnt able to get the time off needed for a festival bc their company's won't allow it. Black out dates start on black Friday for most companies, and more ppl will not be able to attend.

November 16-18

Later dates for cooler weather, us vendors enjoyed it lol.

I really think the later dates are a way better idea. It would make it so hurricanes aren't an issue. Also, it's cooler, so people can really enjoy themselves and the pirates won't get too hot. I attend every year and this year was by far the best because of the weather.

For the out-of-state travelers, the November date is too close to the holidays!

We vote Nov-Dec dates. Not having to consider hurricanes is a good thing. 😁

The Texas Renaissance festival runs Oct-Thanksgiving weekend. We have a huge Pirate community that would love to go to other events but are not going to miss our faire. Just FYI if it helps.

Late November/Early December has such nice weather.

It is so hot in Sept. it’s difficult to wear all that clothing. Late Nov. is cool and no humidity.

After Hurricane Season seems like a good idea. 😉

Tough decision.. As a vendor knowing how much stuff is go In on in Dec ,brings down attendance for sure...meaning no profit.. BUT yes weather is a lot better..I don't mind heat but it is them hurricane s??? ..TOUGH TO DECIDE

I like the Sept dates because I hate cold weather

The weather was much better for us campers this past year.

Looks like the poll shows 50-50 ... my vote is nov/dec

Late November. Better weather

It’s been way too hot in prior years! I loved this years weather due to it being later in the year.

I'll go whenever you have it!

Late November. Otherwise way too hot

Nov/ Dec cooler weather way better

After hurricane season

See you in December! Lol
