Come and enjoy a unique weekend in “The Best Little Pirate Town in Florida.” September 15 – 17th 2017. The Cedar Key Pirates in Paradise and pirate-friendly folks of Cedar Key on Florida’s nature coast are inviting pirates and pirate crews from all over to discover our beautiful, historic town and the pristine waters that surround us.

We’ll begin Friday evening with an officer’s call and a Meet and Greet. You will be introduced to Cedar Key Clams and other indigenous treats compliments of our local clam farmers. Cedar Key is the largest producer of aqua culturally raised clams in the U.S…There will be a cash bar for beer, wine, and soft drinks. You will receive a visitor’s packet and there will be people there to answer your questions and provide you with directions.

Saturday morning you may wish to participate in a grand promenade of pirates and crews through the quaint streets of Cedar Key. There will also be a host of children’s events to create memories and enhance the knowledge for our young pirate in training. We are planning a few surprises too.

We encourage our pirate friends to slow down and enjoy the scenic and natural beauty that is here in Cedar Key. Take a pirate-friendly boat tour of the numerous uninhabited islands visible within just a few miles of Cedar Key. Take a guided historic walking tour street of Cedar Key compliments of the Cedar Key Museum and Historical Society. Sit, relax, and listen to music performed at various venues around our compact village. Meet and enjoy the company of pirates and crews from all over.

Later in the evening, weather permitting, you treated to one of the most beautiful sunsets you can imagine. You can stroll over to Dock Street and enjoy special musical performers brought in especially with pirates in mind. During the evening we’ll have some special events and good pirate fun for your participation and enjoyment.

On Sunday morning we’ll meet one more time to say our farewells. There will be a lot of handshakes and hugs.

Wanda was one of my favorite Cedar Key Pirates. Fly free beautiful soul.

Wanda Lacey Davis was one of the first people we met in Cedar Key, during the first Pirate Invasion. She gave Bill Hooper the name Crabby Bill!

She will be missed.

Wanda will be greatly missed. She was one of the Island's finest.

Sorry to hear this.

Rest In Peace

Oh no, I'm so sad to hear this. She was a core member of our founding group and we couldn't have done a lot without her. Fair seas, friend.

So sorry

Sorry for the loss.

😢

Love Light and Healing up for the CK Pirate Community. Until we meet again Lovie!

Such a lovely woman ❤️

She was a wonderful person with the biggest heart. I loved her photos and her quilting too.

Oh how I miss Cedar Key! Can’t wait to get back as soon as doctor gives me the ok for travel!

We had such a wonderful time. Can't wait to do it again.

This was awesome...

oh the looting and pillaging.

That was fun!

Great fun! Can't wait for a return performance once we are all safe and healthy.

Any chance of moving it back to the fall? I've gone every year it's open but I wasn't going to be able to go this year because I have another yearly events in May.

Cedar Key Pirate Invasion May 2020 Cancelled due to plague.

Comment on Facebook

Good call, sad, but rather see you all next year !!!

I hope to be able to make it there in better times

Its the wise choice. Sad... but better to be safe. ;(

Really? AGAIN? That is 6 weeks away. So much for Pirates not being scared. I hope we get our deposit back.

I hate to see this, but I know it is for the good of all concerned. Good call, mates, and we will plan to see you next year!

Not a plague people. A VIRUS

damn and i was so looking forward to this.

Since the Cedar Key Pirate Invasion wasn't scheduled until May this announcement seems a bit premature. Instead of CANCELING how about POSTPONING until November???

Just means 2021 will be badass!

So sorry to hear this!

Man, you guys seem to have the worst luck or maybe in this case good luck because you're smart enough to avoid a crowd. Let's hope we can see you either late in the year or 2021

I just want to say when ever you guys can pull this off will be great n it will be a fun time , and it will be the best you all can make it , with or without the rude people !!

Just frustrated. Please everyone stay safe and stay well. Keep your loved one close and pirate with them!

I think we should have a party when this is over.

give update on new date

With much reluctance and great frustration, we find we are forced to cancel the Cedar Key Pirate Invasion Weekend planned for May 1-3. There are several major factors which led us to this difficult decision:

1) The health and well-being of the citizens of Cedar Key and our pirate community are most important. It's clear that a large gathering, even 40+ days out yet, is probably not a good idea. Indications are that the virus outbreak will still be hanging around well into the month of May (or longer).

2) Due to directives from the Florida governor's office, many Cedar Key businesses have had to close or operate on severely limited capacity. It would not serve the community or our patrons well to bring a horde of people into town when the hospitality infrastructure is not prepared for it.

3) Some of our supporting crews have suspended or canceled their activities for the next 8 weeks. It would be very difficult to produce a quality festival without their involvement.

4) Although many of our vendors are struggling with the cancellation of so many spring events, we do not believe it will be helpful to continue with our festival if travel restrictions and limited attendance result in a poor turnout. We will be processing full refunds for all vendor fees already paid.

We have not discussed rescheduling yet, that's another conversation for when things begin to return to normal. But the management team remains dedicated to making the Cedar Key Pirate Invasion Weekend a regular event once again. Thanks to all who have supported us on this rough passage! Hold fast and stay the course, we'll meet again on the shores of Cedar Key!

Attention All Hands! It is with great reluctance and much disappointment that we find we must postpone the Cedar Key Pirate Invasion Weekend until next year - 2020.

We have not been able to obtain all the resources we need to put on a truly wonderful festival. And we realize we are running out of time to accomplish all that's needed to stage the event this year. And if we can't do it right, we're just going to wait until we can; rather than put on a lackluster event.

We know many of our loyal patrons have already made reservations and plans for November. And we encourage you to keep those plans in place and visit Cedar Key during this wonderful time of year anyway!

As soon as we can make some basic arrangements and plans we'll announce new dates for next year. We hope you will stay aboard for the voyage and see what we have planned for the next Cedar Key Pirate Festival in 2020!
