This is a group for participants and sutlers to raise questions and lend their voices to our brand new event at historic Fort Rodman, in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

There are several missions fueling this big event:

A: To help the Fort Taber~Fort Rodman Historical Association, Inc 501(c)-3 who’s mission is to protect, preserve and interpret our US Military history and beautiful Fort Rodman, a Civil War Fortress registered on the list of Historic Places since 1973.

B: To help bring out New England’s very rich history of piracy and privateering…
From CT to ME and beyond, these shores were home port to many pirates, such as Tew, Cpt. Kidd and our local pirate from Wellfleet, Cpt. Samuel Bellamy and the Whydah. All of whom few locals know much about.

And to also bring to light the very important sea-faring militias/privateers of the Revolutionary War up to the War of 1812 who held one of the 638 the Letters of Marque that were issued are often not mentioned enough in our Nation’s history books and are over-looked as true patriots.
This is a history that not only holds valid weight, but is exciting, adventurous and could once again pique the interest of a school student who’s bored with American History class.
As re-enactors and as advocates of saving these great fortresses, it has always been our mission to educate the public about what we do…
We are counting on our massive pirate community to start at the hub of it all, in New England, to help get this adventurous history out there.
Let’s show’em how we do it!!!

And, finally, C- to give re-enacting pirates/privateers a massive community gathering, where like-minds can converge to catch up and dish out the hugs that we’ve all been missing throughout the winter months.

No matter what era of history you portray, Fort Taber Park on Clark’s Point has a history you can embrace, from the pre-fort era of the Revolutionary War up to WWII.
This huge park that sits out on a peninsula always has great breezes even in the middle of August.

The city of New Bedford itself has it’s rich history of whaling (the birthplace of “Moby Dick”), the Underground Railroad and more! Plus it’s loaded with architectural eye-candy!
And just next door, over the bridge, is Fairhaven, where “Down to the Sea in Ships” was filmed and Joshua Slocum embarked on his trip to be the first man to solo circumnavigate the globe in his sloop, S/V Spray.

We sincerely hope that you’ll consider coming up north (or east, or south:)) to visit us and help put this event on the map.
