The St Augustine Pirate Gathering sponsored by the Ancient City Privateers is scheduled for November 6th, 7th and 8th 2016

2016 Night WatchDec 2, 5:00pmSt. Augustine Colonial Night WatchThe Colonial Night Watch is a celebration of St. Augustine from 1736-1783. During this time the War of Jenkins Ear had its start right here in St. Augustine. We would like to thank everyone who came out to the Gathering last weekend. Sorry it took a few days, but we were in major recovery mode. Thank you for all of the warm wishes and compliments. We also thank you for your feedback and suggestions. It will help us to make it even better next year.

First...to our vendors and our sponsors...if it were not for each of you taking a small "leap of faith" on this new venue, we would not have had an event at all. After speaking with many of you, and hearing your encouragement for your participation next year it reinforces our belief that this festival...this GATHERING of Pirates from around the country...was and IS worth saving...and worth doing again.

Special thanks to BLACK CORAL RUM, Jim Laird Blackbeard, Joe Pasco, Dredmor Plunder, Dogfish Bob and Scott Erkelens from The Pirate Store for stepping up at certain times during the process of putting on the event...without your specific support at those crucial times, things would have been very different...and we greatly appreciate you for it.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all who attended...who booked rooms and traveled...who camped...who day tripped...who took the short trip from town or who just caught a ride on the shuttle bus. WE APPRECIATE that you came out to visit us and we hope you had FUN. We also invite you to come back and bring a few friends next year...it will be even better.

We would also like to thank a few individuals specifically. Aimee Alex Riggsby, Joseph Craig and Allison Kersey, Diane Eaton and Jim Meiers, and Rumbelly Russ. You guys are absolutely amazing. There was rarely a time this weekend that anyone didn’t look up and find you there working your butts off either at the front gate or wrangling trash or both. When something was needed, you did it...many times without even needing to be asked. We are grateful.

We want to thank Dennis and Thomas and Louie for reminding us to eat when we were running on empty.

Our outstanding lineup of entertainers deserve some special recognition too...they played and played and played...like it was actually FUN for them (and we hope it was, even though it was also a very long gig!...kudos to each and every one of you). You helped create an immersive environment where entertainment was EVERYWHERE.

We’d also like to thank the members of ACP (Ancient City Privateers) for all of their help. ACP members were there and ready to jump in whenever asked...for set up and tear down and many tasks in between.

Belinda Fralick, you are a godsend. Wrangling all of the volunteers together for us was invaluable. Thank you specifically for stepping up to be our Volunteer Coordinator when the going got tough.

Blake Kelley, thanks for your help setting up and getting tiki bars and other materials where they needed to be throughout the weekend.

Lee Pallas, Thank You for taking responsibility and running the black powder aspects of the event. I know that many pirates were excited to participate in your safety briefing and plans for the demonstrations. You stayed the course all the way through and we appreciate your support.

Special Thanks to all of the "residents" of the Canvas Cove encampment...the effort you brought (and all the cool stuff you brought) toward creating a living history exhibit that was FANTASTIC and was one of the highlights of the entire event. Since we had lost the ability to do the encampment downtown, THIS AMAZING EXHIBIT was one of the biggest reasons we think the move was worth it. We look forward to an even BIGGER encampment area next year for those who were inspired by the period tents and gear...and we hope that even more historically minded Pirates will choose to throw their hats in the ring next time and participate.

We’d like to thank B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse) and the Boy Scouts of America for all of their volunteer work as well.

There are so many people who contributed to making this version of the Pirate Gathering happen. This post is a small tip of the iceberg of those who deserve thanks for this weekend. If we didn’t name you specifically, know that we did appreciate your help.

We can’t wait until next year!

Captain Kraven MoreGrog (a.k.a. Doug Kosarek of Pirate Nation) and Captain Nikko Lorenczi of the Atlantic Coast Privateers sample some Black Coral Rum...now the Official and Exclusive Rum of the St. Augustine Pirate Gathering. Come out and try it at the Gathering, You are gonna LOVE this stuff.

Here is a description, "Now as a clear rum it has some work to do to become Black Coral Rum. This clear sweet buttery rum is now ready to be pumped into our aging barrels. New charred White Oak Barrels are filled with our rum and set to age. A portion of this rum is set into “other” barrels creating a completely different profile. Those two rums are in time combined in a perfect blend to make Black Coral “Original” Rum.

Our Black Coral Spiced Rum is carefully flavored using all natural ingredients, if it doesn’t grow in the ground it’s not in our rum. Our rum and these spices infuse to create a profile with an amazingly complex aroma and flavor. Not too sweet, and not too dry. Many enjoy it neat, but a few cubes and a splash of cola and you’ve got a drink that will slap a smile on your face. But don’t take my word for it, give it a try. If you like it then awesome, but of course you will like it, it’s delicious! And you can “pour with pride” knowing that you have helped a Veteran in need because $1 from every bottle is donated, so you are helping by just enjoying a drink of Black Coral Rum."

Good Rum for a Good Cause...It's GOOD to be a Pirate!

A HUGE Thank You to Black Coral Rum...without their help...the Gathering would not happen. We are thrilled to work with them and are proud to declare that they are the Official and Exclusive RUM of the 2016 St Augustine Pirate Gathering.

This is an original HAND CRAFTED, Florida RUM. These distillers use all-natural ingredients, including Florida sweet cane molasses and local spices to infuse the rum, which is made using a hand-built custom brick fired stainless and copper still to produce a product which is not too sweet, and not too dry. Wait till you try it...it's Delicious.

THE ST AUGUSTINE PIRATE GATHERING IS ON!

We are just less than three weeks to the 9th Annual St. Augustine Pirate Gathering…something many people around the country have been looking forward to attending.

Many members of our local communities have also suffered personal setbacks due to Hurricane Matthew. The Ancient City Privateers are no exception. Due to those setbacks, the Ancient City Privateers have determined they are no longer in a position to move forward with the St. Augustine Pirate Gathering.

However, that does NOT mean that The Gathering is cancelled. None of us could let that happen.

In order to save The Gathering, Doug Kosarek and Dan Riggsby of Simply Fun Productions, LLC have agreed to purchase the St Augustine Pirate Gathering from the Ancient City Privateers and move forward as planned. Both ACP and Simply Fun Productions are fully supportive of one another and will continue to support the St Augustine Pirate Gathering and everything it represents.

Since this is the team that has been coordinating the event since June, all vendor agreements and entertainer agreements will be updated but will remain the same. The entire planned schedule will remain the same.
One thing that WILL CHANGE is that we will be donating proceeds from the 9th Annual St Augustine Pirate Gathering to Hurricane Matthew relief and local organizations that are dedicated to directly helping those affected by this powerful storm.

We will be hosting a Toys for Tots collection center…asking you to bring an unwrapped toy for donation.
We will be hosting a Collection Point for canned goods and dry goods for both storm relief and to replenish local food banks for the Thanksgiving season.

To further express our commitment to coming together as a community, within and outside the Pirate Community, we are extending the following invitation.

To all Pirate Crews of every size and from any distance…We will provide a free 10x10 space for you to setup your own tent just for your crew. We encourage you to decorate it and utilize this space as a gathering point within The Gathering in order to rally members and truly represent the unique aspects of your crew. *

To all charitable/non-profit organizations in the area…We will provide a 10x10 space for you to setup your booth to distribute information about your organization. *

*No sales or commerce can be conducted from these free booths.

We are also calling for VOLUNTEERS, in addition to those already dedicated from the Ancient City Privateers who can offer a few hours of your time to help us in our effort to not only save our gathering, but to MAKE IT GREAT by registering to help out.
For details, please visit our volunteer page at 2016.thepirategathering.com/index.php/get-involved/volunteer/
